Kamakura City (Kanagawa Prefecture) is where the first military government of Japan was established by the Samurai.(1147-99)
In 1192 the Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, a leading Shinto shrine was moved to Kamakura. In the first picture I am standing
in a road that starts at the top where the main part of the shrine is and runs all the way to ocean. This road was the main road
when the shrine was first built and still serves as the main road today.
The day I came to see this shrine was a national holiday and very crowded.
I didn't get as many photos as I would have liked, but these will give you an idea what you will see.
Kamakura has many temples and shrines if you get a chance to go don't pass it up.
If you like my pictures think of this link as a tip jar. It is a win win deal
you get to see some great pictures and someday I can get rid of the big
ads at the top of the screen. Thanks-- Ravin
